Similar to Master’s Degree courses, some AFAM programs may have admission tests, so applicants should verify the specific requirements with the chosen AFAM Institute. Grants for a PhD program are awarded for a study period of 6 or 9 months. To be admitted to a PhD in Italy, applicants must meet the entry requirements and academic qualifications established by the University. They must also provide the admission letter to the PhD from the relevant Italian University. - Research Projects under Academic Supervision (Progetti in co-tutela):
Grants for research projects under academic supervision are awarded for a study period of 6 or 9 months. These grants support research projects conducted at Italian Research Institutions, public or recognized Universities, Museums, and Archives. Applicants must submit a research project, including the name and contacts of their supervisor, and provide the invitation/acceptance letter from the host University/Institute. - Italian Language and Culture Advanced Courses:
Grants for Italian language and culture courses are awarded for a study period of 3 months. These grants are dedicated to students who already possess basic skills in Italian. Applicants must provide a certification regarding their proficiency in Italian language. The minimum required level is A2 within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Eligibility:
To be eligible for these scholarships, applicants must fulfill the following requirements:
- Applications must be submitted exclusively through the Study in Italy portal.
- Applicants must hold a valid passport or identity card and provide a legible photocopy of the document at the time of registration.
- Applicants must meet the academic qualifications required to enroll in an Italian University/Institute.
- Age requirements vary depending on the program:
- Master’s Degree/Higher Education in Arts, Music, and Dance (AFAM) Programs/Italian Language and Culture Advanced Courses: applicants should have attained the age of majority and not exceed 28 years (with exceptions for renewals).
- PhD Programs: applicants should have attained the age of majority and not exceed 30 years (with exceptions for renewals).
- Research Projects under Academic Supervision: applicants should have attained the age of majority and not exceed 40 years.
- Language proficiency requirements vary depending on the language of instruction:
- Italian-taught courses: Applicants must provide a certification of proficiency in the Italian language. The minimum level required is B2 within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Candidates who have previously enrolled in an Italian-taught course or an Italian language course at a university may submit a language certification from the responsible person confirming their Italian language level.
- English-taught courses: Applicants must provide a language certification demonstrating proficiency in the English language. The minimum level required is B2 within the CEFR. Candidates from countries where English is an official language may submit a self-certification. Applicants with an English-taught Bachelor’s degree should provide a document certifying that the study program was conducted entirely in English. No proof of proficiency in Italian is required for courses taught entirely in English.
- Italian language and culture advanced courses: For these courses, applicants must provide a certification of proficiency in the Italian language. The minimum level required is A2 within the CEFR. Candidates who have previously enrolled in an Italian language or Italian-taught course at a university or Italian Cultural Institute may submit a language certification from the responsible person confirming the required Italian language level.
